Voting Rights Act

 

The National Black Justice Coalition strongly supports the Voting Rights Act.  We also support efforts to increase voter registration, including same-day voter registration, a national election day holiday, and motor voter laws.

We recognize that Blacks are disproportionately incarcerated, and therefore disproportionately denied the right to vote upon their release.  We favor the abolition of discriminatory and punitive laws that disenfranchise convicted felons who have already served their time.

To prevent fraud, we support election reform laws that require a paper trail to be generated for electronic voting.
