Governor Patrick's Daughter Comes Out as a Lesbian
WASHINGTON, DC --Today Katherine Patrick, the youngest daughter of Governor Deval Patrick of Massachusetts has publicly come out as a lesbian. In an exclusive interview with Bay Windows newspaper, Governor Patrick, his wife First Lady Diane and their daughter Katherine spoke about Katherine's coming out and the immediate support she received from her family.
H. Alexander Robinson, NBJC CEO
We commend Katherine for her willingness to speak her truth so publicly and laud her work to achieve justice for gay Americans.
Governor Patrick and First Lady Diane's support of their daughter exemplifies the power of family. I pray that their embrace of Katherine will inspire parents, family and friends of Black same gender loving people to follow their example and support their children, brothers, sisters, nephews, nieces and friends who struggle to understand and embrace who they are as lesbian, gay, bisexual or transgender .
As NBJC continues its work to increase the visibility and acceptance of gay Americans within the overall Black community, our desire is that our families stand with us in our journey.
On behalf of NBJC and our families we say, thank you Katherine, Deval and Diane Patrick for your leadership and choosing to live the change which you seek.
