Drug Policy

Drug Policy

The National Black Justice Coalition is very concerned about drug abuse in our communities.  We are a part of the community, and we see first-hand the destruction that drug abuse has done to our communities.  Therefore, we support policies that provide drug treatment and counseling for substance abusers.

NBJC supports efforts to deal with some of the root causes of drug abuse — poverty, homelessness, unemployment, lack of education, and economic disempowerment.  We also support laws that seek proactive, positive and creative ways to fight drug abuse.  We support the elimination of legal disparities that have lead to the disproportionate punishment and incarceration of Blacks and other people of color in the “war on drugs.”
