On a more somber note, we bring to your attention the continuing madness of violence directed against LGBT people. We have to take a stand against all violence and not let the intimidation, suffering and sorrow of our brothers and sisters go without our conscious concern and help. Some of this is very hard to read, but real people are being hurt and harmed in real ways. We have to speak out.

Love to Sing?  Want to Sing?  Join the Choir!!

We are looking for singers to join the choir at the up-coming Black Church Summit in Baltimore, Friday, April 25.

This is a great opportunity to use your talent and enjoy a wonderful event. The 3rd Annual Black Church Summit is featuring some of our favorite clergy and faithful friends. Music plays such an important part in praise and worship that we will miss you if you miss it.

Caldwell's Corner

The Inner and Outer Agony of Paul Moore and Eugene Robinson

I write these words as an outsider. I am neither an Episcopalian, nor a scholar, active pastor or well known as a commentator. Yet, as a Christian who is making his journey through this Lenten Season, I feel compelled to share these words.

I of course, do not know the Presiding Bishop nor any of the staff in the Episcopal Center. But, I do know two Episcopalian friends; Byron Rushing and Ed Rodman whose lives have touched my life in profound ways. Possibly, because I mention their names, these poorly crafted words might attract some attention.  Read more here!

The Calling for us all?

--Mashaun D Simon

There were about 60 or so congregants sitting in the audience. As I sat there feeling out of place, the other 59 or so people in the congregation were listening intently to the speaker's words. Her lips would part rhythmically, yet not too much seemed to be coming out. It was then that I realized I had zoned out. Read more here!

 Message from Bishop John Selders

As a pastor and community leader working on HIV/AIDS prevention for over 25 years and as an advocate with the Human Rights Campaign's Religion Council, I know the devastating toll this epidemic is taking on all our communities. The HIV/AIDS crisis statistics are staggering: 5,700 people die every day from the disease; 6800 are infected daily with HIV/AIDS, 2,900 of which are women 15 years and younger.

Family Values Demand That Kern Apologize

by: Rev. Loyce Newton-Edwards

Every Oklahoman who believes in family values and the dignity of all our children should be concerned about recent remarks about the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender community from Representative Sally Kern.  Indeed, those of us who value every member of our family, and believe in our country’s promise of equality, deserve an explanation and apology from Kern.  Read more here

Minimum Wage 40% Less on 40th Anniversary of

Dr. King's Final Day's in Memphis

Forty years after Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. came to Memphis to support striking sanitation workers making poverty wages, he would be shocked to see millions of Americans making poverty wages today.

Faith leaders from around the country will gather in Memphis, TN, on March 13 to continue Dr. King's work for living wages for all workers with an event organized by the Let Justice Roll Living Wage Campaign and the Mid-South Interfaith Network for Economic Justice. Read more here!

A call for people of faith to stand against anti-LGBT violence

The annals of history, ancient and contemporary, are strewn with death and destruction wrought by the hands of the religious. However, the core teaching of every major faith is peace, not violence.   Rev. Mike Schuenemeyer, National Religious Leadership Roundtable.  Read more here!!

The Arch-Butcher of Nigeria
by Wayne Besen

(Weekly Column)

When openly gay Gene Robinson was elected Episcopal Bishop of New Hampshire in 2003, the Nigerian Archbishop, Peter J. Akinola, called the event "Satanic." However, after reading the latest issue of Atlantic Magazine, it appears that Akinola is the one whose behavior is modeled on the devil. Read more here!
