About the NBJC Action Fund
The National Black Justice Coalition Action Fund is a national organization of Black lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender people and our allies. By educating and mobilizing our constituents, members and supporters the Action Found seeks to influence opinion leaders, elected officials, clergy, and media to support policies that advance racial justice and equality for lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgendered Americans.
Our primary goals are to:
* Advocate for legal protections from discrimination and equality of rights and responsibilities for all Americans regardless of race, ethnic heritage, gender, gender identity or expression or sexual orientation.
* Encourage voter support for initiatives to establish racial justice and equality for lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgendered Americans policies (and oppose anti-gay ballot questions that create social injustice and inequality).
* Expose and counter the efforts of anti-gay organizations to influence the political process and defeat anti-gay ballot initiatives.
* Educate the public about the positions on LGBT related issues taken by candidates seeking public office at the state, local and federal level.
* Run aggressive independent campaigns and take other effective action to bring attention to fair-minded candidates for federal, state and local offices to the extent permitted by applicable laws.
The NBJC Action Fund is a 501(c)(4) nonprofit organization affiliated with but separate from the National Black Justice Coalition, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit.
